Hi there, Caz Taylor here, with BizVid Communications, a leading video producer located in San Diego, California. We have a lot of shooting sessions each month and each year. Some of the fun stuff deals with fashion. This one in particular is dealing with a product called NuFace. It is an anti-aging device and so we have the opportunity to work with gorgeous people. Sometimes the way we stage and frame this type of video is a little different. So, this blog will be devoted to showing you the who, why, what, where and how of this type of video. We hope you enjoy it.
NuFace is known as the leader of innovative, anti-aging devices that deliver visible results for beautiful facial skin. The NuFace devices are FDA-cleared and clinically tested for improved facial contour, skin tone and wrinkle reduction. Treatments with the NuFace devices are very simple! NuFace hired BizVid Communications to visually illustrate the ease of use.
To accomplish this, it was decided that a simple set would be best for illustrating the application of this product. As such, we went with a simple white background, known in the industry as a cyc, short for cyclorama. The client chose a beautiful model with perfect skin to walk the viewer through the step by step processes. BizVid made sure the lighting was balanced and we did so with a series of soft lights, filters, reflectors and flags to channel the light and control its intensity.
The tape session was further simplified through the use of a voice over, instead of having the on-camera talent speak live while presenting the product. The process uses very low voltage current, strategically placed by the NuFace device in critical areas of the face and chin. This gently contracts the skin and underlying muscle making the area tighter and much more wrinkle free.
The crew for this half day session consisted of a makeup artist, a cameraman who was also our director of photography, an experienced grip to set lights and run cabling, along with BizVid’s Director, Bill Gruber and Producer Caz Taylor. The NuFace CEO and Creative Director were also on hand to approve sequences, offer insights and instructions as we went.
As portions of the script were read live, the model illustrated the actions that were described. The production was simple and effective, and the video turned out to be very impactful and exactly what the client expected.
