Hello blog friends, thank you for visiting Bizvid communication the leading producer of video, located in San Diego County.

My partner and I do a lot of videotaping and here we are in San Diego at a rather exciting video set. We are at Brandes Investment Partners to do an entire series of videos.

The schedule we have planned is what we would call a little ambitious. So, one of the things we have to do in situations like this is to be very tightly regimented in our time management. In other words, we have to know what goes where in different time slots and how long we anticipate each of those scenes to take.

Our client helped us to provide a rather intricate list of expectations. It itemizes the shots and schedule right down to the very minute. One of the things that you should consider when you’re doing complex productions with lots of moving parts, is to be faithful to your outlines and timelines as much as you can.

As soon as you miss one timeline, it can throw everything else off and that means that the crew may not get their lunch or their breaks when they had expected. A sad crew makes a bad video. So, we like to be fairly regimented on how and when we produce things.

In this particular instance, we have specific time frames for videotaping specific scenes, and we regiment them very tightly. It can become challenging when you have a shot that takes more time than you allotted. In these instances, you are going to have to give and take a little bit to solve that problem.

In tight situations like these you don’t want to come to the point where you say “oh let’s try a few more takes, just for safety sake” when you already have good takes. This can put you woefully behind. And when you do get behind, it means that you can go over budget. This is something that the client should not have to experience. And, it is something that your reputation as a video producer cannot frequently bear.

If you have a tight schedule, you follow it closely and, if you have quality people like we do, you can trust that you’re going to get the best footage in the shortest period of time.  This is the kind of thing that turns a client into a friend who keeps coming back again and again.

This has been a little tip from us at BizVid. Thank you for joining us on this blog.
