Jill Andrews is with the SBA here in San Diego and Imperial Counties.
We thought we would take the opportunity to talk with Jill a little bit and have her give us her elevator speech regarding the Small Business Administration. When you realize what they do for small businesses, if you happen to be one, you may want to take note. Jill, tell us a little bit about the Small Business Administration in San Diego and Imperial Counties.
JILL:
We are here in two counties and we help people start their businesses and grow their businesses… By providing management and technical assistance with guaranteed loans. We also provide disaster aid in case there’s a disaster declared in the area. And we do a great deal of advocacy on behalf of small businesses in Washington DC.
CAZ:
You know Jill, in this economy many people maybe apprehensive to even begin small businesses. But, you want to come alongside them and give them all the resources to help them succeed. Tell us a little bit about how they can get other people involved and even network with other people.
JILL:
Most of the things we do we do through SBA resource partners and that is SCORE and the Small Business Development Centers. We have three small business development centers with in our area and a wonderful SCORE resource with 80 members and about 4000 years of business experience among them!
CAZ:
We’ve been working with the SBA for quite some time and have discovered that if you as a small business need some small-business help, SCORE helps people free of charge, getting to understand pieces of their business they never felt comfortable with. But there’s so many other benefits that the small business administration offers. So Jill, how it people find out more about the small business administration here in San Diego and Imperial Counties?
JILL:
We have a website, we offer all kinds of online training that you can take advantage of 24/7… even at 2 o’clock in the morning in your jammies.
CAZ:
