This New Year should bring promises of great business opportunity. To those that are wise, it should also bring an awareness that expected and unexpected challenges can be met by you, your company leaders, along with the people whom they manage. Contrary business climates from recent years may have rightfully made you wary but should not make you weary.Put simply, one solution for enhanced success is tied to this phrase: “The business that plays together, stays together.”
Reconnect with your company’s leaders.
During your several recent holiday celebrations (you know the ones I am talking about), you have likely reconnected with family and close friends. BizVid Communications would like you to consider using the same approach to our topic for this blog: “The business that plays together, stays together.” Try applying this strategy with the “key” people who hold the keys to your organization’s successful future.
A “rejuvenating” Board Meeting can prevent future “Bored Meetings” and can activate your leadership into your company’s compelling future. From our point of view, scheduling a board meeting in Hawaii or a cruise down the Mexican Riviera will pay off in huge “human resource” dividends. In fact, we have another one planned soon.
A broad range of clients return to BizVid because of our unparalleled expertise in production, along with a proven ability to synergize their business strategies into video presentations. Part of a business strategy we would like to share with you from our years in video and other production work is to walk you through some of the benefits related to “board meetings abroad.”
One reason we are known as the leader in video production in San Diego County and beyond is because we are able to visualize and present benefits in the unspoken nuances of your business and bring them to the screen. For this blog, we will use some of the nuances of our own “Board Meeting Escapades” to Hawaii and share with you the symbolism which we were able to overlay upon a work environment. We hope you find this helpful for your own business.
Wind up your past year by winding down a little.
For some of us, it may take a day or so to begin the true detox process. But once that state of relaxation kicks in, we find that we are more open to unexpected creative insights.
Understanding varied cultures improves customer relations.
Nuggets of creativity happened for the BizVid Communications Board Members when exploring different cultures. Hawaii is a blend of various tribes and customs. Comprehending their sometimes obvious and sometimes obscure differences can bring appreciation back home for the variety of cultures and personalities which will need video production. In your case these different cultures can bring to the surface the unique benefits or opportunities your product or service can bring to different people groups.
Paraphrasing from Tribalpedia, Hawaii is the newest of the 50 U.S. states (August 21, 1959) and is the only U.S. state made up entirely of islands. It is the northernmost island group in Polynesia, occupying most of an archipelago in the central Pacific Ocean. Southwest of the continental United States, southeast of Japan, and northeast of Australia, Hawaii’s natural beauty, warm tropical climate, inviting waters and waves, and active volcanoes make it a popular destination for tourists, surfers, biologists, , volcanologists and videographers like BizVid, alike.
Due to its mid-Pacific location, Hawaii has many North American and Asian influences along with its own vibrant native culture. This proved to be fertile ground for our video team by helping us to cohabitate with people of other cultures in productive ways. From the island of Kauai, an authentic Hawaiian Village known as Kamokila Hawaiian Village a flavor of past cultures. Along the Wailua River, the BizVid video producers walked the grounds of a traditional Hawaiian village recreated on an authentic site. As such, we were able to experience native lifestyles in natural habitats from centuries ago.
Prior to U.S. influence, the kingdom of Hawaii was established during the years 1795 to 1810, with natural habitats of the smaller independent chiefdoms of Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kauai and Niihau by the chiefdom of Hawaii (or the “Big Island”) into one unified government. This “unity” helped us understand the value of unity in work with clients all over San Diego County, California, America and the globe.
Unity versus disunity.
Understanding the values in coming together will also prepare us for dealing with unexpected business threats. This was most clearly portrayed in our witness to the events tied to the attack on Pearl Harbor. While we will not get into the particular enemies which stirred war-worthy responses, we will use this event to stress the lesson of preparedness. Throughout America and the world in the past few years, threats of a worldwide epidemic crippled businesses, some to complete extinction. Those businesses who did not allow fear to separate and devastate their companies, maintained quiet resolve and found ways to succeed when others failed.
Keep your business from becoming a dinosaur.
Finally, we will use the aforementioned term “extinction” to introduce another benefit BizVid experienced from our visit to the Hawaiian Islands. This plush and somewhat untamed paradise is often the site where blockbuster movies are made. The very first Jurassic Park comes to mind. As a video production leader, this fact was of great interest to BizVid Communications.
Most of the scenes were filmed on various Hawaiian locations. We visited many of these during our “board meeting” excursions. Most memorably, crouching behind the fallen trees in an expansive green field from the scene where the Jurassic herbivores were pursued by T-Rex and other carnivores left us awe-inspired. This experience, as well as the other lessons gleaned from aforementioned experiences proved our initial statement that “The business that plays together, stays together.”
We returned to the mainland refreshed and inspired to enhance the success of soon to be legendary companies, such as yours. Feel free to visit our samples pages to become inspired, as well.
